Students Experience Traditional Culture in Aoshang Ancient Village

On January 26, 2019, Secretary Deng Yuantan, General Branch of the City No.3 Primary School, led some Party members to organize 45 students as co-sponsors to participate in the Annual Meeting of Aoshang Ancient Village in Suxian District, and carried out a study travel with the theme of "visiting ancient villages, appreciating folk customs and tasting New Year".

 

In order to let the children have experience and gain in the study travel activities, Secretary Deng Yuantan led Hu Qunying, Vice-principal of the Research Group, Teacher Gu Lingjun, and parents volunteers to communicate with Minister Li Hongyi of Aoshang Town, the organizer, on the contents of the study travel many times. They also went to Aoshang Village to learn the whole process of the activities on the spot, and formulated a detailed study travel manual. Before the activities, students were also organized to study the study travel manuals, clarify the objectives and tasks of the travel to ensure the safety and orderliness of the activities.

 

After careful preparation and arrangement, the children set out with a banner.In ancient village, there were festive couplets, red lanterns, a dazzling array of New Year's goods filled with a strong flavor.

 

The Annual Meeting began, fireworks blossomed, gongs and drums were in full swing, a great deal of joy! The Kunqu Opera performances with exquisite costumes and unique singing voice attracted children's attention. At the end of the performances, everyone came on stage to take pictures with Kun Opera performers. On the other hand, the calligraphers wrote on the spot, the children had a glimpse of the calligraphers and received the Spring Festival couplets presented by the calligraphers.

 

After that, the students were divided into 6 groups to observe, interview and experience these traditional cultural customs in the experience areas of sticker embroidery, popcorn candies, setting flowers, making tofu, shaking rice cakes and wine making. Here the children embroidered the sticker embroidery celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic, saw how the popcorn candies were fried, made the setting flowers for the first time, tasted them for the first time, experienced the pleasure of shaking rice cakes, and explored the secrets of ancient villages and wine making.

 

At lunchtime, they gathered at the old village farmhouse to make dumplings. Parents and children joined to chop stuffing, make dumplings, burn firewood and cook dumplings. Teachers and students were happy to celebrate the arrival of the New Year in advance.

 

After the activities, the children returned to the classroom to share their feelings. From the children's exciting faces and words, we heard the admiration of the ancient village's architectural art, saw the charm of Kunqu Opera, sticker embroidery and other intangible cultural heritage, realized the characteristics of Chenzhou traditional customs, and tasted the strong flavor of the year!

 

The children sighed deeply: "This year is different! Let us have a deeper understanding of our hometown and motherland, and a deeper feeling. We should inherit and carry forward the cultural essence left to us by old ancestors!"

 

Parents also praised the activities: "Thanks the school for organizing this travel study activities, moving the education from the classroom to the outdoor, so that children can not only experience the joy of travel, but also gain the knowledge. We hope that the school can carry out such meaningful activities for a long time! "

 

Secretary Deng Yuantian said: "Travel Study is an important carrier of comprehensive quality evaluation, and comprehensive quality evaluation is an important measure to implement the spirit of the National Education Conference and the fundamental task of moral education. We organize teachers to explore local research resources, actively develop courses, and aim to edit a complete set of Chenzhou local research travel textbooks for children. This is a big responsibility for all of us to improve students' comprehensive quality, cultivate students' love for their hometown and motherland, and carry forward the traditional culture of the Chinese nation!"
