Chenzhou City has been the gateway between the Central Plains and the coastal areas of South China since ancient times. It now serves as the forefront of the central region connecting Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and a “bridgehead” from Hunan Province to the Greater Bay Area.
Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, Xuchang-Guangzhou Expressway, Wuhan-Shenzhen Expressway and Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway four traffic arteries run through Chenzhou City, forming a “Three Vertical and Tow Horizontal” expressway network together with Yizhang-Fengtouling Expressway. Expressway network, “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” national highway network and well-connected rural road network constitute a three-dimensional comprehensive transport hub in Chenzhou City with 11 counties and districts integrated into the one-hour economic circle.

Put into operation on December 31, 2021, Linwu-Lianzhou Expressway has become a new fast channel connecting Hunan and the Greater Bay Area, which shortens the commute time between Yizhang and Guangzhou from four and a half hours to two and a half hours.
It is also the first six-lane provincial expressway from Hunan to Guangdong. Since then, the traffic network has been further improved with 5 provincial expressways and the length of expressways open to traffic reaching 576 kilometers.

Relying on the traffic advantage of the expressway, a large number of agricultural products with Chenzhou characteristics are transported to the south through the expressway and enjoy high popularity in the Greater Bay Area.
There are hundreds of planting and breeding bases in Chenzhou City to ensure its supply to the Greater Bay Area, forming the “Four Great Industries” of citrus, vegetables, tea and pigs.
More than 90% of the investment projects introduced into Chenzhou City are from the Greater Bay Area.

Along the expressway, Chenzhou City has successively built fast customs clearance platforms. Now it has a national high-tech zone, a national comprehensive protection zone, a free trade pilot zone, a national demonstration logistics park and 12 provincial industrial parks.

According to statistics in 2021, the traffic flow of Chenzhou Toll Station reached more than 4.072 million vehicles and that of Chenzhou North Toll Station exceeded 980,000 vehicles. The increasingly safe and convenient transportation allows citizens in Chenzhou to take a trip at any time they want.
Benefiting from convenient transportation, Shazhou Village of Rucheng County, Chenzhou City not only attracts tourists from all over the country with its red tourist resources but also boosts rural trips and picking activities.
In 2021, Shazhou Village received over 1.4 million tourists with the collective income of the village reaching 705,000 yuan, and the per capita income of the villagers exceeding 17,000 yuan. The former poor mountain area has now become a prosperous village.

With more than 600 homestay inns and over 10,000 beds, Guidong County received more than 1.7 million tourists in the first half of 2021, achieving comprehensive tourism income of over 1.6 billion yuan and a year-on-year growth of 144.99%.
Many villagers have increased their incomes by developing homestay industry, which not only contributes to the leapfrog growth of Rucheng County, Guidong County and other old revolutionary base areas but also promotes the rapid development of Hunan Province.
