Recently, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Hunan Province and the Commission of Ethnic and Religious Affairs of Hunan Province named Huangcao Town of Zixing City as a characteristic cultural and tourism town in Hunan Province in 2020. Huangcao Town is also the only town in Chenzhou City to receive this honor.

Huangcao Town is located in the hinterland of Dongjiang Lake, with a total land area of 354 square kilometers and a forest coverage rate of 90 percent. It is a typical water town in the south of the Yangtze River with rich historical and cultural landscapes. There are scenic spots such as Dongjiang Drifting, Xianrenzhai and Woshui Gorge. It has been successively awarded the titles of "national beautiful town with beautiful environment", "famous tourist town with national characteristics" and "beautiful and livable town in China".

In recent years, Huangcao Town of Zixing City has developed tourism and cultural industry in an all-round way. It has successfully held several Dongjiang Lake (Huangcao) Fish Culture Tourism Festivals. It has also carried out tourism and cultural activities such as Thousand Mermaid Banquet, Shuiyun Huangcao Evening Party, Water Bicycle Race, Photography Competition and other tourism and cultural activities, attracting tourists from all over the country.
