Q & A on Blue Health Code

2022-11-25

The COVID-19 prevention situation in China is still severe. Recently many places in Hunan have reported virus spread caused by those who came or returned to Hunan failing to take nucleic acid tests on arrival. To do prevention and control work in a scientific and precise way, Hunan Province launched a blue code for the health QR code system. A relevant expert with the Hunan Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention explains the blue code.

1. Who will be blue code holders?

People will hold a blue code within five days of arriving in Hunan from other provinces. In addition, a pop-up window will give a notification of “less than five days after coming or returning to Hunan”.

2. Can blue code holders see a doctor and their children attend school?

Blue code holders can go to work, see a doctor, and take public transportation, and their children can go to school. Local authorities cannot impose restrictions on them. But blue code holders must follow self-protective measures strictly, wear masks when going out, and take nucleic acid tests at regular sites.
3. What do blue code holders need to pay attention to?

Blue code holders are not allowed to enter public places, including restaurants, shopping malls (including department stores), supermarkets, farmer’s markets, salons, bath (foot massage) centers, indoor fitness rooms, KTV, arcades, internet cafes, bars, specialist escape room-style venues with sessions of script murder, and chess & card rooms.
4. How to turn a blue health code to green?

Blue code holders must take a nucleic acid test (including the nucleic acid test on arrival) every day within the first three days in Hunan and take a nucleic acid test on the fifth day. The health code will turn back to green automatically with negative results. Blue code holders should do nucleic acid tests as required. If not, the health code may turn yellow. Those who hold a blue health code by mistake can submit their digital travel records to the local communities, neighborhoods, and centers for disease control and prevention to ask for turning the blue code green.
