Over a thousand years ago, Zhao Zilong (a general who was an equally accomplished man of letters from the Kingdom of Shu Han (221—263), one of the Three Kingdoms) was ordered to conquer Guiyang County and cleverly resolved various crises based on people’s livelihood.
Because of his great love and righteousness, he was deeply loved by the people of Guiyang and eventually successfully conquered Guiyang with the strategy. The story of Zhao Zilong has been passed down from generation to generation and has now become a popular story among the people of Guiyang.
Passing through the towering walls of the Guiyang Cultural Park is like walking through the tunnel of history. In an instant, you will return to the ancient county, waiting for an encounter that transcends time and space. The pavilion is towering, with high floors, black bricks and red tiles, and carved beams. Strolling through it, you will feel its simplicity and grandeur.
The Guiyang Cultural Park is a microcosm of Guiyang County thousands of years ago. The patterns of building signs, eaves, and beams are all hand-painted by color painters. Located in the downtown area, it faces the people of Guiyang day and night. It blends into daily life, bringing profound history and cultural heritage into Guiyang’s earthly life.
With a clamour of gongs and drums, a new Hunan opera, “Zhao Zilong Takes Guiyang with Strategy” was staged in front of the gatehouse.
As night falls, the magnificent colored lights blend with the ancient buildings in the night, creating a more vibrant and harmonious atmosphere.
