Exploration for Linwu Xiyaolvgu was one of the series of activities of 2012 China Hunan international tourism festival and the 2nd China Chenzhou leisure and culture tourism festival. On September 15, 2012, the opening ceremony of this exploration was held on Xiyaolvgu national forest park in Linwu county, Chenzhou city. Chenzhou municipal leaders- Shou Jianzhong and Huang Cheng attended this activity.

Xiyaolvgu forest park locates in the southwest Linwu county which was upgraded to a national forest park on October 18, 2000. It covers about 12441 hectares areas with 95% forest coverage, among which 4054.4 hectares are well-reserved secondary forest. Meanwhile, minority Yao people lived there for thousand of years, which enriched the forest park with Yao’s special culture.

The series of activities were held in the core scenery of Xiyaolvgu national forest park. More than 300 sportsmen, painting and calligraphy enthusiasts attended four contests like 3.5kms running, exploration travel, calligraphy and painting.

It was learned that Linwu county government had intended to upgrade Xiyaolvgu as the national forest park and establish special Linwu tourism brand with local folk characteristics through these activities in order to forge Linwu county as one of the favorite tourism destinations in the pan-pearl river delta.
