With the weather heating up in midsummer, a constant stream of tourists arrive at Jindong Village, Oujiang Town of Guidong County to avoid summer heat.

Jindong Village is located in the northeast of Guidong County, with good vegetation, fresh air and charming scenery, attracting many tourists. In 2015, a local villager named Luo Peng returned home to build a homestay inn, which is very popular. Under his leadership, homestay inns have sprung up in the village. Now, there are more than 80 homestay inns in the village.

Endowed with good ecological environment, Guidong County has enormous confidence in developing homestay economy. With an average altitude of 890 meters and a forest coverage of 85%, the average annual temperature is 15.4℃ and the average temperature in summer is 23.6℃. The average content of negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter is 40,000, with the highest amount reaching 150,000. Guidong County has been recognized as a county with the highest negative oxygen ion content in China by the Shanghai China Records Headquarters.

The county has issued relevant measures and provided 40 million yuan every year to support the development of health tourism, rural tourism, quality homestay and other industries, and to create a health paradise, a summer resort and a world oxygen bar. It has also formulated regulations for the management of quality homestay hotels and build a tourism homestay association to standardize the homestay management and further improve the service quality.

Now, there are more than 600 homestay inns in the county, with more than 10,000 beds, and many homestay villages like Jindong, Qingzhu and Beixi have sprung up, attracting tourists to enjoy beautiful scenery, avoid summer heat and breathe fresh air. Many villagers have become rich by running a homestay inn. For example, Qingzhu Village’s 50 homestay inns earned more than 6 million yuan last year.
