Recently, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism released a compilation of quality improvement cases of tourist areas in 2022. There are 52 typical cases across the country, which can provide learning samples and reference for high-quality development of scenic areas nationwide. Two scenic areas in Hunan Province are in the compilation, and one of them is the Mangshan Mountain Scenic Area in Chenzhou City, which was selected out for its barrier-free tourism.
The Mangshan Mountain National Forest Park covers a total area of 20,000 hectares, with a forest coverage rate of 99.6%. The park features jagged rocks of grotesque shapes, the sea of clouds, waterfalls, hot springs and various rare animals and plants. There are more than 3,000 species of animals and plants represented by the rare snake of Protobothrops mangshanensis, more than 50 of which are key national-protected wildlife species. The content of negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter is more than 100,000. It is also a national nature reserve and a national AAAA tourist attraction. It is “the green pearl on the same latitude of the Earth” and “gene bank of species”.
Yizhang County and Zhongjingxin Tourism Investment Development Co., Ltd. jointly invested 3 billion yuan to build sightseeing cable cars with the world’s most advanced control system and the longest single-line cableway in China, the longest skywalk in southern China, and a panoramic lift of 1,600 meters above sea level. With the help of barrier-free facilities such as the cable car and stair climbing machine, people with mobility difficulties can also enjoy a pleasant tour.
On October 26, 2020, with the theme of barrier-free mountain tourism development, the first China Mountain Tourism Conference was held in the Mangshan Mountain. The Wuzhi Peak Scenic Area in the Mangshan Mountain was awarded many titles, especially the “Best Mountain Tourism Destination”.
As the second Hunan Tourism Development Conference is to be held in Chenzhou City, the city has launched many activities to advertise its brand.
On March 27, the National Piano Selection Competition, “Play the Piano with Lang Lang in the Mangshan Mountain, Chenzhou City” officially kicked off. Lang Lang, an international piano master and the international public welfare image ambassador of Chenzhou cultural tourism, invited pianists all over the world to participate in the competition via a video.
From April 2 to 3, more than 30 media workers from 28 countries in Africa and Latin America visited Mangshan Mountain to enjoy the beautiful scenery in spring and tell the story of the Mangshan Mountain to the world with international perspectives.
At present, the highway connecting Mangshan Mountain National Forest Park and Wuzhi Peak, the upgraded project of Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area and others are under construction. Efforts are being made to improve scenic quality and management for building Chenzhou into a world tourist destination.
