The historical and cultural ancient village of Wayaoping in Chenzhou City was opened on the morning of August 26.
The ancient ferry that has witnessed thousands of years of history has been transformed into a town featuring Xianxia (fantasy and martial arts).
Since the Han Dynasty, Wayaoping has been a waterway hub connecting the north and south of China. It is the starting point and terminal station of the waterway from Chenzhou to Hengyang and Changsha.
At that time, merchants gathered here, and it was extremely prosperous. The porcelain produced here was exported overseas.
However, with the decline of water transportation, this thousand-year-old ancient ferry gradually fell silent.
With the opportunity of the second Hunan Tourism Development Conference and the call of the central government’s “Save Old Houses” campaign, Wayaoping initiated the historical and cultural ancient village project.
Currently, 55 merchants have settled in Wayaoping, and the number of daily tourists is expected to reach 5,000.
