Recently, Yangtian Lake Grassland was approved as the provincial science popularization education base in Hunan Province.
Yangtian Lake Grassland is the southernmost mountain grassland in China, with an altitude of 1,314 meters and a total area of 40 square kilometers. Its green grass period lasts for 9 months.
The scenic area is rich in rare natural resources, including grasslands, giant Buddha, sea of clouds and starry sky.
There is a hundred-year-old beacon tower. It’s also one of the important places where the struggle against Qing army in the Southern Ming Dynasty took place.
The scenic area is located in Yangtianhu Yao Township, preserving the primitive and simple Yao ethnic customs and possessing rich cultural values.
The scenic area also has extremely high scientific values, and the unique Yangtian Lake Grassland is the result of Quaternary glacier movement, providing important reference value for geological research.
The restoration work of the grassland ecosystem in the scenic area has achieved significant results. Its grassland ecosystem restoration technology and management model provide a scientific path for the restoration of grassland ecosystems in other regions.
In recent years, continuous efforts have been made to improve its science popularization education facilities and venues. Science popularization publicity and education work have been carried out. Domestic experts and scholars were invited to the scenic area for scientific research and inspection, and colorful youth study and education activities were held.
