Recently, four oriental white storks and black storks appeared in the Chongling National Wetland Park.
Oriental stork is a large wading bird belonging to the stork family of ciconiiformes. It has a beautiful body shape, with an adult body length of over 1 meter. It has black wings and a white body, red feet and a long beak.
It has extremely strict requirements for the living environment, and its wintering grounds are mainly in wetland lakes in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
It’s a rare migratory bird, and due to its narrow breeding distribution area, the wild population is extremely rare. It belongs to the endangered level on the Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. It’s a first-class key protected wild animal in China, known as the national treasure of birds.
The black stork is a large wading bird with a graceful body shape, a bright color, agile movement and alert temperament. It has a red beak and red feet. The feathers on its body are black except for pure white on its chest and abdomen. At different angles, black feathers can change in various colors.
Due to its sparse population, the black stork is listed as a national first-class protected animal and is also known as the “giant panda among birds”.
In recent years, the Chongling National Wetland Park in Guiyang County has fully implemented ecological restoration and wetland protection with multiple measures.
The ecosystem of Chongling Wetland is increasingly stable and optimized, the living environment of animals and plants has significantly improved, wetland water supply has been fully guaranteed, and the variety and quantity of wild animals have significantly increased.
Chongling Wetland has created a beautiful picture of “beautiful mountains and clear waters, blue sky and green land” for local people, and provided superior conditions for the arrival of migratory birds. The appearance of many rare visitors such as Chinese mergansers, oriental white storks and white spoonbills has also vividly showcased the continuous improvement of the ecological environment in Guiyang County.
