Jiahe wedding accompanying song is a folk wedding custom of Jiahe county. The family members whose daughter will get marry will sing songs with each other for two nights during the wedding days.

Wedding accompanying songs and dances will be last for two nights. In the first night, some short and playing wedding accompany songs will be sung by the family members till mid night. In the second night, it will be last for the dawn time.
All the wedding accompany songs are sung by the female members of the family with Jiahe local language. Those elegant melodies and dances with specified processes are carried forward by Jiahe people.

Li Zhengqiang who is the former Director of Jiahe Cultural Center said: “some events should be held by the families to celebrate the daughter’s wedding, so the songs which are mainly for expressing the deep feeling between the daughter and sisters and parents are sung there.”

After the establishment of PRC, Jiahe wedding accompanying song which is a very unique folk culture of Jiahe county was well reserved. More than 3000 songs of the wedding accompanying songs were carried forward. In 2006, it was enrolled into the first batch of Hunan provincial intangible cultural heritages.

As introduced by Li Zhengqiang, it is a rare situation that so many songs are well reserved. The wedding accompany songs formed their unique system. Some experts considered that it can be comparable with Lanhuahua and Sangzhi. 

Besides the songs, Jiahe county is also for its casting and forging industry. According to the historical material, Shennong taught the skills of farming in Jiahe county, and the casting and forging industry was improved there as well.

After the establishment of PRC, the state-owned Iron factory and Handcraft Industry Association were established there. It provided sound foundation for the industrialization development of casting and forging industry. In recent years, the enterprises of Jiahe casting and forging industry tried great efforts on developing its proprietary intellectual property rights and creating some famous brands. 57 registered trademarks were registered and 89 national patent of invention and new utility patent were approved as well. Currently, there are 488 casting enterprises available in Jiahe county. It was honored as “casting county of south China” and “forging county of China”.
