Linwu Duck

Linwu duck is one of representatives of Linwu county which was enrolled into the final 20 nominees of cultural symbols of Chenzhou city. Linwu duck which is one of the eight famous ducks of China is a unique species cultivated by Linwu county’s unique climate and geological condition. It is a free range species which was fed by source of the Pearl River and Wushui River thousand years ago. It was used to be a royal tribute. The legend of Linwu duck was also handed down by the duckers for generations.

 

Zhou Jishan who is one of the livestock farmers of Linwu county said: “Emperor Shun saw some ducks near Shunfengzhai when he went by Linwu county on his south patrol. He nodded the ducks by his crutch, which left a circle on the neck of the ducks. ”

 

This beautiful legend was a beginning of the long history of Linwu duck. All local people are proud of it.

 

Now, along with the improvement of modern processing enterprises of Linwu duck, its economic effects become even better. In the meantime, it becomes a unique cultural symbol of the county.
