Zixing city selected 21 “cultural symbols”

What will first come into your mind when you are talking about Chenzhou city? What will get you involved into homesick when you are missing your hometown? Currently, the selection of “ten cultural symbols of Chenzhou” is being carried out in Chenzhou city hotly, which attracts people’s attention on sharing their ideas about the symbols. The collections of characteristic cultural symbols of the 11 counties and districts of Chenzhou city are also being promoted there.

Chenzhou Propaganda Department visited the counties and districts to check the selection events. It was learned in Zixing city that in the middle of this April, it carried out the selection of “cultural symbols of Zixing”, which was purposely to find more representative cultural resources of Zixing city and further popularize its fame. In order to ensure the selection work to be carried out normatively, the leader group of the event figured out specified regulations and kept regular scheduling and notification every week. Some staffs were specially assigned to be in charge of the selection work and follow eight procedures of launching, collection, publicity of candidates, public voting, judge voting, comprehensive evaluation, approval, and publicity of results to arrange relative work.

People took active actions on the selection. More than 40 “cultural symbols of Zixing” as natural geographic landscape, local characteristic products, literature art, folk custom, craft, and etc. were collected by the leader group. Some citizens even came to the office to recommend their favorite ones personally. Followed specified procedures, 21 cultural symbols as Dongjiang Lake, Huilong Mountain of Ancient Nanyue Mountain, Shoufo legend, and etc. were selected into the list.

Concerned for their understanding of cultural symbols of Zixing city, different experts and scholars are with their comprehension. The masses are with their opinions as well. “If friends from other places ask me about Chenzhou, I will tell them ‘all sceneries are available in a lake’”. Huang Yong who lives near Dongjiang Lake Landscape couldn’t stop listing the beautiful sceneries of Dongjiang Lake. Besides natural sceneries, Dongjiang Lake can highly reflect the rich cultural connotation of Chenzhou city.
