It was reported an evaluation trip was carried out by an assessment team of Chenzhou government to Jiahe county on its afforestation work. The team highly affirmed local government’s achievements on afforestation with efficient measures after detailed investigation.

In order to accelerate its construction of forest city and promote the establishment of national forest city and ecological civilization construction, Jiahe county released “working plan of closing hills for afforestation”. According to the plan, from August 1, 2012 to July 30, 2017, 470,000 mu forest zone of state-owned Nanling forest farm, national and Hunan provincial ecological public forest, central county downtown, etc. was forbidden to cut trees or closed for afforestation. It was significant for the recovery and protection of Jiahe county’s forest resources.

In order to fulfill the tasks set in the working plan, stricter leadership was enhanced in Jiahe county to unify the awareness of this work; more investment was placed on the work to promote the policies efficiently; new innovative mechanisms were figured out to ensure the management and protection of the work results; forceful supervision was carried out to make sure all work to be handled out well; and much more attention was placed on the forest quality to ensure the survival rate of afforestation. With all the efforts mentioned above, Jiahe county gained by great achievements in these two years, such as the forest coverage rate increased from 43.89% to 44.7% and the forest stock volume increased from 646,000 cubic meters to 695,000 cubic meters as well.
