It was reported that afforestation & greening and fire control scheduling conference of Chenzhou city was held in Jiahe county on December 20, 2013. When reporters arrived at Jiahe county, a totally new image of Jiaxin road with green eucalyptus and ilex and Xinglang public park attracted their eyes. All of those encouraged people’s confidence to fulfill the target of 400,000mu tree planting in this winter and next spring.

Focusing on the “three-year greening project”, 1.37 million mu tree planting has been finished in Chenzhou city, which was one year ahead of the time schedule set in Chenzhou city’s forth congress of party representatives. The task of tree planting for this winter and next spring was 410,000 mu, including 100,000 mu eucalyptus. Till December 20, 2013, 139,000 mu land preparation for tree planting has been completed, covering 33.9% of total task.

Concerned for the problem that the afforestation work was handled out slowly in this winter, Chenzhou city would focus on land preparation, seedling arrangement and policy guidance, highlight on making-up, major projects and greening, and well prepare for fire-control propaganda, source of ignition control and emergency preparedness. It would fight its best to ensure the tree planting task of this winter and next spring to be fulfilled well and win the fire-control combat as well.

According to the data, 162,000 mu minor forest was damaged by the severe drought of this year, 54,000mu of which need to be re-planted and 108,000mu of which need to be recovered. Chenzhou city would pay much attention on fighting for the recovering work to be finished before 2014 Chinese Spring Festival. Special efforts would be placed on afforestation work on mountains, expressways, national and Hunan provincial highways, etc. and greening work on Wuguang high-speed train (Chenzhou section), Xiarong expressway (Chenzhou section) and Hengwu expressway (Chenzhou section).
