The hillock plum is a traditional Chinese medicine mainly growing in Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Anhui, Hunan and other provinces. It has the effects of heat-clearing, detoxifying, producing saliva, relieving sore throat, and eliminating pain and stasis to activate blood circulation.
It is a traditional Chinese medicine preparation for the treatment of such diseases as influenza, fever, acute tonsillitis, faucitis and lung abscess. The growth cycle is about five years. Its cultivation and management are relatively extensive and its income is relatively stable. It can achieve an output value of about 15,000 yuan per mu (0.07 hectares) during the harvest period. As the main raw material of Ganmaoling (an anti-cold drug in China), it enjoys a good prospect.
Guangming Village in Oujiang Town has a forest land of 2,226 mu (148.40 hectares) with the forest coverage rate of 87%. The village committee adopts the mode of combining forest land circulation and farmers’ independent planting encouragement. The village transferred and planted a total of 500 mu (33.33 hectares) of forest land, and more than 200 mu (13.33 hectares) of farmers’ independent planting in 2022.
More than 700 mu (46.67 hectares) of hillock plum has been planted with a total of more than 200,000 plants. Guangming Village Committee plans to plant 200 mu (13.33 hectares) this winter and to expand the planting scale to more than 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares) in 2023. The committee also expects to create an income of one million yuan for the village collective economy and an average annual income increase of more than 2,000 yuan for independent-planting farmers.
