Chenzhou City’s GDP Hits 168 Billion Yuan in 2013

On January 23, 2014, a press conference of Chenzhou economic situation was held in Chenzhou city, Chenzhou city’s GDP hit 168.55 billion yuan with an increase of 11.1%, ranking the second place of Hunan province. It was 1% higher than Hunan provincial average level.

 

Chenzhou city’s economy was kept to improve well. According to the initial accounting, the added value for first, second and tertiary industry was with the increase of 2.8%, 11.9% and 12.2% respectively.

 

All three industries were with steady improvement

Above scaled industry was ranked the third place of Hunan province

 

Agricultural industry was kept steady increase. According to the initial accounting, the added value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery was with the increase of 2.0%, 10.6%, 2.0% and 5.4% separately.9.72 billion yuan was placed on the first industry, which was 16.0% higher than 2012. 723,000mu afforestation was finished in 2013, which helped to fulfill the “three-year greening project”task one year ahead of time schedule. Chenzhou city’s forest coverage was about 65% now. The total food production volume reached 1.822 million tons and tobacco leaves was about 1.101 million loads.

 

The industry was kept improved well. The total added value of industry hit 90.16 billion yuan, up 11.8%. The added value of above scale industries increased 12.5% which was 0.9% higher than Hunan provincial level, ranking the third place of Hunan province. The output value of the eight industries as food processing, electronic information, steel, electricity, chemical, construction materials, coal mine, and non-ferrous metal hit 10 billion yuan, especially for coal mine, construction material and non-ferrous metal were with 20 billion yuan, 20 billion yuan and 100 billion yuan separately. A large number enterprises hit millions output value in 2013. Jingui Silver Group was listed successfully and Nanfang Rare Metals Exchange was past approval of the state.

 

Service industry was also improved continuously. The added value of tertiary industry increased 12.2% which was 0.3% higher than the second industry. till the end of last December, the balance of loans and deposits for all financial institutions’s domestic and foreign currency was amounted to 151.73 billion yuan and 67.65 billion yuan separately, up 15.4% and 19.1% accordingly. 10.83 new loans was for accumulated in 2013, up 2.2%. Total volume of freight was amounted to 260 million tons, up 13%. Total volume of passenger transport was about 79.91 million, up 1.5%. Total volume of postal and telecommunications service hit 3.1 billion yuan, up 7.6%. Total number of tourists was 27.946 million with the tourism income of 18.82 billion yuan, up 19.1% and 21.9% separately.

 

Sound coordination among three demands

The fixed asset investment was 8.1% higher than Hunan provincial average level

 

Investment, consumption, and net export of cargo and service contributed different rate to the increase of Chenzhou city’s economy as 51.5%, 48% and 0.5%, which helped to promote the increase of GDP with the rate of 5.7%, 5.3% and 0.1% respectively.

 

The investment was kept to increase. The fixed asset investment was amounted to 147.41 billion yuan with an increase of 34.2% which was 8.1% higher than Hunan provincial average level. The investment for first, second and tertiary industry was fulfilled with 9.72 billion yuan, 67.64 billion yuan, and 70.05 billion yuan respectively, up 16.0%, 23.4% and 50.2% accordingly. 36.98 billion yuan was invested on industrial technical improvement, up 43.6%. 40.96 billion yuan was invested on infrastructure construction, up 62.2%. 14.76 billion yuan was invested on the development of real estate, up 26.7%. 14.1 billion yuan was fulfilled on the investment of transportation construction. Leiyi expressway’s upgrading project, Chenyong avenue, and some arterial highways were fulfilled in 2013. 275 industrial projects, 200 urban infrastructure projects, and 240 well-being and public projects were completed in 2013.

 

The consumption market was kept with steady development. The city's total retail sales of social consumer goods reached 62.61 billion yuan, up 12.9%. Total retail sales hit 55.46 billion yuan, up 11.8%. Rural retail sales were amounted to 7.15 billion yuan, up 13.2%. 906 above designated size private enterprises (individuals) finished 29.05 billion yuan retail sales, up 6.8%. 103 enterprises were with over 100 million yuan sales volume and 9 were over one billion yuan.

 

Foreign trade increased rapidly. the total foreign trade volume reached $3.8 billion, up 36.8%. $2.01 billion was reached for export, up 41.1%. Processing trade import and export volume hit $2.9 billion, up 51.8%.

 

The operational quality was kept to upgrade

The increase rate of Chenzhou fiscal revenue was 6.1% higher than Hunan provincial average level

 

Chenzhou city’s fiscal revenue was kept to increase. Total fiscal revenue hit 21.61 billion yuan, up 18.7% which was 6.1% higher than Hunan provincial average level, ranking the second place of Hunan province. Local fiscal revenue hit 14.65 billion yuan, up 22.4% which was 8.9% higher than Hunan provincial average level, ranking the second place of Hunan province.

 

Corporate profits were kept to increase as well. According to the data, 16.46 billion yuan profits were reached for the scaled industries of Chenzhou city, up 15.9%. 35 of the 36 scaled industries gained profit in 2013. 29 ones were with the increase.

 

Some progresses were achieved on energy-saving. The energy consumption reduction rate for ten thousand yuan scaled industry’s added value was 12.3%. All the energy consumption reduction targets set for Chenzhou city’s units were estimated to be fulfilled on time.

 

Remarkable transformation results were reached in Chenzhou city

The actual use of foreign capital was amounted to $1.02 billion

 

More efforts were placed on undertaking industrial transfer. 390 undertaking industrial transfer projects were introduced to Chenzhou city. 3.75 million square meters standard workshops were finished with a renting rate of 95%. The first South Hunan Undertaking Industrial Transfer Trade Fair was held successfully. Railway port and combined railway-sea transportation were opened to public which helped Chenzhou city to be enrolled into the list of “dry port”.

 

The investment attraction work was handled out well. 89 foreign investment projects were introduced into Chenzhou city, accounting for actual use of foreign capital of $1.02 billion, up 35.7%. 779 domestic investment projects were signed, accounting for paid-in domestic funds of 31.34 billion yuan, up 16.6%. Philip Company which is one of the world’s top 500 manufacturing enterprises was settled down in Chenzhou city.

 

The tertiary industry was improved fast. The industrial structure of the three industries was adjusted from 10.4:57.9:31.7 to 9.8:57.6:32.6. The tertiary industry was with an increase of 0.9%. Intensification and high-tech level were upgraded for the industrial development. The added value reached by the Hunan provincial industrial parks’s above-scale industries was about 12.9% higher than last year. 15 enterprises were approved to be national high-tech enterprises. Added value of Chenzhou city’s high-tech industries increased 42.8%, covering 29.3% of Chenzhou city which was 5% higher than last year.

 

People’s living condition was kept to improve

“100 Well-being projects” was fulfilled successfully

 

People’s income was with continuous increase. Per capita disposable income of urban residents was 21,634 yuan , up 10.3%. Per capita disposable income of rural residents was 9,692 yuan, up 13.1%. Increase of rural residents income was higher than urban residents for the forth consecutive year.

 

Urban and rural area’s employment condition was improved better. 67,000 new employments reached in the urban area, which helped 8,280 people with difficulties in finding jobs to be employed successfully. 48,000 rural labor employments were available in Chenzhou city. The registered urban unemployment rate was 3.96% which was lower than the target set in the beginning of 2013 of 4.5%.

 

The price level was kept stable. The city 's consumer price level increase 2.5%, lower than the target set in the beginning of 2013 of 4%. “100 well-being projects” were fulfilled in Chenzhou city. 69.7% of Chenzhou city’s finance was spent on the well-being projects. 49,600 suits of affordable housing were started. 712.8kms rural roads were finished. 180 dangerous reservoirs were reinforced. The drinking water safety issue concerned for 251,000 rural people was solved. Per the urban minimum living guarantee for urban and rural areas was 251yuan/month and 122yuan/month respectively.
