China (Hunan) International Mineral and Gem Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "CMGE") is the only mineral and gemstone exhibition and trading platform designated by the People's Government of Hunan Province and approved by the leading group of the forum activities of the national clean up and standardization celebration in April 2013.
The CMGE was initially called China (Changsha) International Mineral and Gem Expo, which is held once a year in May every year for five days. The first and second CMGE in 2013 and 2014 were held in Changsha City. In August 2014, the People's Government of Hunan Province decided to host the third CMGE in 2015 in Chenzhou City, and changed the name of China (Changsha) International Mineral and Gems Show to China (Hunan) International Mineral and Gem Expo, making it clear that the next sessions will be held alternately in Changsha and Chenzhou. The third CMGE was jointly sponsored by the former Ministry of Land and Resources and Hunan Provincial People's Government, and undertaken by Hunan Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Chenzhou Municipal People's Government. As the specialization, internationalization and branding of the third CMGE have been greatly improved compared with previous years, Hunan Provincial People's Government decided to hold the Expo in Chenzhou again in November 2015.
Chenzhou City is known as the "World Museum of Nonferrous Metals" and the "City of China's Ornamental Stones and the Capital of Mineral Crystals". The CMGE is also known as "the Expo at the Mine Mouth" by the industry and the media at home and abroad. Since the CMGE was settled in Chenzhou, Chenzhou City has been adhering to the exhibition purpose of "gathering global resources, building international brands, expanding exchanges and cooperation, and promoting scientific civilization", striving to build "Never Ending CMGE". Each Expo has a central pavilion and three sub pavilions, with a total area of 120000 square meters and 2800 international standard booths; each exhibition has more than 1000 enterprises from more than 50 countries and regions around the world, and more than 30 percent of foreign enterprises have participated in the exhibition. The level of "six modernizations" (internationalization, specialization, standardization, marketization, branding and industrialization) has been continuously improved.
After eight years of cultivation and development, the Expo has developed into the largest international exhibition of mineral gems in Asia and the third in the world. During the Expo, tens of thousands of mineral crystal collectors, consumers, experts and scholars, and popular science audiences from all over the world gathered in beautiful Chenzhou to share this feast of mineral gems. Through the exhibition window and trading platform of the Expo, thousands of mineral specimens and treasures entered thousands of households and people's lives.
According to the decision-making and deployment requirements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, the Party and government organs should gradually withdraw from hosting exhibitions and hand them over to industry associations or enterprises. With the coordination of Chenzhou Municipal People's Government and the consent of Hunan Provincial People's Government, the China Mining Industry Federation and Chenzhou Development Investment Group Co., Ltd. will jointly host the CMGE from 2020. This is a new starting point and new exploration for the development of the Expo, which is bound to achieve a new leap in the new journey.
