Yongxing candy orange, a special product of Yongxing County, is a national geographic indication product of China.

Yongxing County has paid great attention to brand promotion while planting and developing candy orange. Every year, the county organizes and participates in all kinds of agricultural fairs, agricultural product appraisals, exhibitions, etc. Because of its thin skin, less core and sweet flavor, it has been awarded the high quality agricultural products Award of the Ministry of agriculture, the gold award of the second China Agricultural Expo, the gold award of Hunan Agricultural Expo and the best-selling product award for eight consecutive years.

After Yongxing candy orange was introduced in 1978, it was carefully selected and bred by agricultural science and technology personnel of the county, and excellent citrus varieties were cultivated. In order to maintain the pure quality, the county has invested 7 million yuan to build the Yongxing candy orange virus-free breeding center. The center's equipment and technology are all designed according to the highest domestic standards. It is the first-class seedling breeding center in the province at present, with 500000 seedlings and 1 million scions per year, which can ensure the annual growth of Yongxing candy orange planting area by more than 10 percent.

At present, the planting area of candy orange in the county has reached 110000 mu, with a total output of 65000 tons and an output value of 260 million yuan. The planting area covers 21 towns and 204 villages in the county, with more than 10000 professional planting households and 12000 employees. At present, there are many processing and sales enterprises of Candy Orange Fruit Industry Development Co., Ltd., Yongnong Science and Trade Development Co., Ltd., Xingbang Fruit Industry Co., Ltd. and hundreds of professional cooperative organizations, basically forming the industrial operation pattern of "company + base + farmer + association". As of 2015, the planting area of candy orange in Yongxing County was 138,700 mu and the annual total output was about 85000 tons, with the output value of over 800 million yuan, more than 21000 planting households and 32000 employees.
