The ecological environment is the most important public goods in modern era and the core competitiveness of a city as well. The ecological condition is directly concerned for people’s life quality, one of the most indexes to judge people’s happiness, and also the most intuitive name card of one city.

Thanks to its advantageous geographical conditions, Chenzhou has four distinct seasons, pleasant weather, beautiful water sceneries, high rate of forest coverage, etc.. All of those enabled Chenzhou to be able to build a beautiful ecological livable city with the guidance of government and public participation of residents.

As for the government, it should listen to public opinions with scientific proof to figure out the unique ecological planning; it should carry out the ecological planning on the basis of good information disclosure and communication to ensure the widest public participation with consensus opinion; it should improve the assessment system to upgrade the ecological protection as one of the hard indexes even as one index for leadership evaluation; and it should reward the advanced unit and individual on the ecological construction and protection to encourage further improvement.

As for the public, awareness to participate in the ecological construction needs to be enhanced among all the citizens to contribute their wisdoms on Chenzhou city’s improvement; ecological education should be upgraded to foster the ecological culture, especially for opening ecological lessons to the middle and primary schools and propaganda activities in communities; ecological habits and values should be established from their daily life, such as taking public buses rather than self-driving every day, drinking more tap water rather than bottle water, decreasing the time of using air conditioners, reducing household garbage, etc.; ecological rights should be protected rationally with legal ways.
