Martyrs Park is located in the southeast Dongtaling of our central city, a total area of 500 mu. In 1996, Martyrs Park was renamed from the Dongta Park.

In the Long March, Chenzhou was an important passage, and also the longest fighting area for the Red Army in Hunan. In order to commemorate the outstanding achievements of the Red Army Long March, we should succeed to the red culture and strengthen the people's ideological and moral construction. In recent years, our city focused on creating patriotic education theme park in the Dongtaling. 

The park includes the Xiangnan Uprising Memorial Hall, Xiangnan Uprising Memorial Tower, Martyrs Memorial Temple, and Martyrs Monument. The Xiangnan Uprising Memorial Hall is divided into 5 parts and 14 exhibition halls, construction area of 4,886㎡and the exhibition area of more than 3,000㎡; the Xiangnan Uprising Memorial Tower, 28.1 meters high, shows the story of the uprising in southern Hunan launched in January 1928; the Martyrs Memorial Temple commemorates the unknown heroes sacrificed in the Xiangnan Uprising; the martyrs monument was built in 1998 and was respectively inscribed the names of 7,339 martyrs from 11 counties and cities, the total length of 82 meters.

Martyrs Park has been working on patriotism education and revolutionary traditional education as a basic function. It has become the best place to carry out patriotism education, party spirit education, revolutionary tradition, national defense education, minors' ideological and moral education and commemorative activities, free receiving more than 1 million visitors each year.

At the same time, Martyrs Park maintains the original style on the basis of the existing ladder, road, forest and other natural areas and infrastructure, takes the socialist core values and red culture as the main publicity content with the depth of the creative work and shows a new unique ideological content theme park for the public through setting up the "patriotism" theme publicity windows, display boards, signs and other facilities to let the visitors improve the cultural literacy and sublime the ideology and morality.
