The excellent rate of air quality is 89.1% for the 14 cities and autonomous prefectures of Hunan province in this March

Blue sky, white clouds, and good weather grant people with sound mood. The air quality of Hunan province was kept well in Hunan province from this March. The excellent rate of air quality was about 90% for the 14 cities and autonomous prefectures.

The ranking list of air quality for 14 cities and autonomous prefecture of Hunan province in this March was issued by Hunan Provincial Department of Environmental Protection recently. Followed the new “ambient air quality standards”, the excellent rate of air quality was 89.1% in March, which was 42.7% higher than February. Chenzhou city, Jishou city and Yongzhou city won the top three places, while Loudi, Yiyang and Yueyang city were ranked on the last three places.

“Thanks to the improvement of air diffusion condition and promotion of the air pollution control, the air quality was being improved greatly.” As introduced by some staffs of Hunan Provincial Department of Environmental Protection that the percentage for excellent air quality days of 14 cities and autonomous prefecture of Hunan province was from 75.9%-96.8% in March and the average rate was 89.1%. Compared with last year, the excellent rate for 6 key environmental protection cities as Changsha, Zhuzhou, Xiangtan, Yueyang, Changde and Zhangjiajie city was with an average increase of 18%. The key contaminants as SO2, NO2, PM10 and PM2.5 were decreased. The monthly density decrease of SO2 was up to 37.2%. 

According to the record, the excellent rate of air quality for the 14 cities and autonomous prefectures of Hunan province in the first quarter was 53.4%. “The key reason caused for this result was that the excellent rate of January was just 24.1%. It badly affect the average of first quarter.” Chenzhou, Changde and Jishou city won the top three places in March, while Loudi, Zhuzhou and Shaoyang city were ranked on the last three places.
