It was learned that commendation conference of the state spiritual civilization construction & volunteer service conference of learn-from- Lei Feng was held in Beijing on February 28, 2015. The forth national civilized cities (districts), civilized villages and towns and civilized units were commended on the conference by the central government’s civilization steering committee. Chenzhou city won the title of “nominated city of national civilized city”of a new round. Qu Hai- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chenzhou City attended the conference on behalf of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Chenzhou Government.

It was introduced that the selection of national civilized city which would be held every three years is honored as the top honor among the national comprehensive ratings for its extremely high evaluation indicators. Till now, 74 cities were granted with the honor in last 4 selections.

According to the requirements, all the application for national civilized city should be qualified with the nomination and then can be proceed to selection of national civilized city formally. Chenzhou city was enrolled into the nominated list with the first name of Hunan province. It was a new start for Chenzhou city. Followed the establishment working plan, Chenzhou city would fight for winning the title of national civilized city successfully in 2017.

In April 2009, Chenzhou city launched the establishment work of national civilized city, national sanitary city and national garden city, and establishment of national forest city and national demonstration city of transportation management afterword. All five establishment works were promoted coordinately. In recent 5 years, over 80billion yuan have been accumulated to be fulfilled on the investment of urban construction, which greatly helped to perfect the infrastructure condition of urban service, greening, public affairs, and etc., and improve the city environment. All of those helped to lay solid foundation for the establishment of “national civilized city”.

In recent years, focused on the target to establish Chenzhou city to be national civilized city, the government placed great attention on the spiritual civilization construction and carried out series activities, such as public propagandas of“Chinese dream”, “socialist core values”, and etc.; selections of “moral models”, “most beautiful Chenzhou people”, “kind man of Chenzhou city”, “best 10 civilized citizens”, and etc.; volunteer service and “persuasion of civilized transportation”; ideological and moral education via some platforms as “Linyi forum”, “leisure reading bars”, “beautiful Chenzhou- my home”, “grand stage of citizens”, and etc. Thanks to all the activities, Chenzhou city’s image was obviously improved, its city quality was upgraded and people’s quality was upgraded as well, which helped to obtain significant stage achievements for the establishment of national civilized city.

6 villages and towns and 4 units from Chenzhou city were commended with the honor of “national civilized villages and towns” and “national civilized units” on the conference.
