Promotion conference for Chenzhou city’s establishment of national forest city and three-year greening project in urban & rural areas

A new target of “another three-year project” was confirmed in Chenzhou city that a most featured national forest city in subtropical zone should be established within three years in three years.

On October 11, 2012, promotion conference for Chenzhou city’s establishment of national forest city and three-year greening project in urban & rural areas was held in Chenzhou city. Xiang Lili- Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee announced the start of this project and encouraged to promote the project with all the efforts of the city.

It was stated by Deng Sanlong- Minister of Hunan Provincial Forest Ministry that Chenzhou was a window of Hunan province’s image. It was a great action for Chenzhou city’s establishment of national forest city. It should be followed with high level planning to promote this project. A series forest park could be established in suburb areas and some greening villages or ecological parks in outer suburbs, which would help to ensure the construction of forest city to be more stable and long lasting.

Specified assignment of responsibility should be figured out to carry out the establishment work. Furthermore, long term mechanism should be formed to make sure strong support for the establishment work and its long lasting development. Deng also promised that more favorable policies, projects and funds would be issued for Chenzhou city to support the establishment of national forest city.

Xiang Lili stated that it was a worldwide trend to establish the national forest city which was the best assessment title for a city’s ecological construction. Chenzhou city would pay much attention on the following seven projects: greening work for “Chenzigui-Chenyongyi” town cluster, ecological protection and retreatment project for trans- Dongjiang lake, greening and upgrading project for artery traffics, upgrading project for the weak ecological condition areas, forest reservation project, transformation project for forest industry, and construction project for forest culture.

A scientific forest ecological network and harmonious city forest construction pattern should be formed to combine different forest plates with different forest ecological galleries. 

Qu Hai- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chenzhou City stated that all the departments should keep confident to promote the establishment of national forest city with specified targets and key points. Some special strategies should be implemented to improve the establishment work and help to highlight Chenzhou city’s unique features.

This is a mobilization meeting, but also a swearing in ceremony. Suxian District Government, Rucheng well Poxiang Government, Municipal Transportation Authority has made a typical speech tackling rural and urban greening, Yizhang county government made a statement to create a national forest city. By 2014, the nationwide voluntary tree-planting conscientious rate will reach 80%. At the meeting, county and city governments counties (cities, districts) have long set a military order to the mayor.
