Great Improvement of Cuijiang River’s Water Quality

 When reporters arrived at Shimiantan power station in Cuijiang river, floating algae and aquatic plants are seldom to be founded in the river. It was introduced by one of the staffs of Suxian District Environment Protection Bureau that the eutrophication problem has been solved fundamentally with great efforts placed on the improvement of Cuijiang river. 

 

According to the data, 297 times of water sampling inspection of Shimiantan power station in Cuijiang river have been handled out by Suxian District Environment Protection Bureau. Its water compliance rate was 98.64%, which indicated that the water quality of this area met the criteria of national Class III, qualifying as drinking water.

 

Cuijiang river which originates from Dongjiang lake is secondary tributary of Xiangjiang river. Chenjiang river, Xihe river, and Donghe river are its main tributaries. Because of the severe environmental problems, some of its areas’water quality is standard-exceeding. Liangjiawan area’s water quality was even listed in the worst five categories. In order to improve the water condition of Cuijiang river, 530 million yuan has been placed on the 33 retreatment projects of Cuijiang river from the beginning of 2013. 12 of them have been fulfilled ahead of the time schedule. 218 illegal enterprises along the river were shut down. 176 mineral processing enterprises were integrated into 18 ones. Furthermore, enhanced forces were placed on the construction of urban sewage pipe network, 39.4kms of which have been finished in last ten months of 2013.
