Leiyi Expressway to be Re-opened to Public on This November 8

It was learned from Leiyi expressway maintenance project department that the northward direction part of Leiyi expressway would be finished in November. According to the reports, Leiyi express maintenance project was launched in May 27, 2013 and the west southward direction part has been fulfilled in this August.

 

It was learned that the construction of the east part has been basically completed, except for some accessories setting issues in some sections. According to the project time schedule, Leiyi expressway could be fully re-opened to public in November 8, 2013.

 

What are the differences for Leiyi expressway after such big maintenance project construction?

 

The key maintenance work for Leiyi expressway was the 30.5cm thick asphalt pavement added on the original roadbed. Leiyi expressway was used to be with concrete pavement. Compared with the concrete pavement, this new asphalt pavement was with much less tire noise.

 

It was stated by some drivers who drove from the southward part that it was with much better road condition after the maintenance work, and was helpful to save energy especially for the truck. One of the drivers said 40 yuan fuel charge could be saved in this new 135kms long Leiyi expressway.

 

It was introduced by Hu Zhizhao- engineering manager of Leiyi expressway maintenance project that frequently regular repair would not be occurred for Leiyi expressway, once this project finished, its maintenance cycle would be extended to every five years, not current every one year.

 

When the reporters drove near Wulipai section of Leiyi expressway, some red “carpets” were founded to be paved on the road surface. Once drove on these “carpet”, obvious shake would be happened for the car.

 

What are they?

 

It was introduced by Hu that those were non-slip surface cost 200yuan/ square meter. They are used to increase the road friction and prevent vehicle skidding on the rainy and snowy day and on the sharp bend parts. Some other accident-prone areas of Leiyi expressways were facilitated with such kind of non-slip surface. In addition, some horizontal deceleration strips were set in these sections to keep the safety when driving there. Some wheel gear road marking were facilitated in many sections of Leiyi expressway. Once drove on these marking, the vehicles would shake and help to remind the drivers that they have departed from the right lane.

 

Hu said that some strobe lights were installed on Leiyi expressway as well, which would help the drivers to focus on driving.

 

It was learned that Yongxing and Suxian service center along Leiyi expressway were the parts of the Leiyi expressway maintenance project.
