Chenzhou was called “Lin Yi”- city in the forest. It was one of the four key forest areas in Hunan province. Chenzhou city’s forest resources was devastated by the catastrophic ice disaster happened in 2008. Its forest coverage dropped from 64.28% to 57.8%, and forest reservation declined from 48.76 million cubic meters to 27.96 million cubic meters. In order to recover the forest ecology, a three-year 1.30 million mu afforesation plan was figured out in Chenzhou city to fulfill the comprehensive greening target of Chenzhou urban and rural areas.

An unprecedented ice storm that has for the past six years, in order to regain the forest coverage rate, the government proposed the "three rural and urban greening crucial" slogan, all the people involved in the "green" project. Today Suxianling and North Lake Park returned to the old trees are competing show, lush scenery. This is a two city urban "green lung", we have to take care of it.

Followed by the “three-year greening project” stated by Chenzhou government, all the Chenzhou people joined in the greening project to recover Chenzhou’s forest. With the efforts of all Chenzhou people, Suxianling and Beihu park which were the two green lungs of Chenzhou urban city were covered with green trees.
