It was learned that eight projects would be carried out by Chenzhou Forestry Bureau to promote the ecological civilization construction and present a poetry image of Chenzhou city as “forest in the city, city in the painting, people in the green” again.

Followed with the strategic policy listed by Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Chenzhou Government, Chenzhou Forestry Bureau figured out a preliminary solution for the establishment of ecological civilization city and construction of beautiful Chenzhou city with key emphasize on “eight projects” issue.

It was introduced that, “eight projects” refer to afforestation of barren mountains, fine greening, management and protection, afforestaton for hard planting site, greening of mining area, cultivation of precious trees, seedling project, etc.. Different tasks and detailed working schedules were figured to relative project accordingly to ensure all the eight projects to be handled out well and meet estimated target.

As one of the four key forest areas of Hunan province, Chenhou city launched series ecological construction projects as forest landscape construction, “three year greening project”, establishment of national forest city, etc. from 2009. At the meantime, some strict measures were handled out to promote the overall development of urban and rural areas’ ecological environment. With the efforts of above measures, both forest coverage and living wood growing stock were increased in Chenzhou city. 10.1 billion yuan were invested on the forestry issues in Chenzhou city to fulfill the 1.367 million mu afforestation work, one year ahead of the three-year greening project. Till now, the forest holdings of Chenzhou are about 20.753 million mu, while forest coverage is about 64.75% and living wood growing stock 44.15 million cubic meters.

As specified by Chenzhou Forestry Bureau, a series greening work would be carried out in 2014 in Chenzhou city, such as 0.4 million mu barren mountain greening work , 0.4 million mu closing hillside afforestation work, 0.3 million mu retreatment work on low yield and low efficiency forest, one million local precious trees plantation work, etc.. It was purposely to forge a stretch of green line of Chenzhou city.

Li Hao- Director of Chenzhou Forestry Bureau said: “Forestry plays a fundamental and strategic role on the acceleration of ecological civilization construction. All staffs of the forestry bureau should try their best to handle out the greening projects and establishment of national forestry city project to highlight the ecological feature as the best feature of Chenzhou city. ”
